What does the job look like?

The Manager, Waste Management is responsible for the management and development of waste diversion programs for the County of Peterborough and manages the interest in joint County/City waste services.  Major responsibilities include the management of existing waste diversion programs, research and development of new programs, materials collection contract administration, Waste Management Staff leadership and annual program development, as well as budget formulation and tracking.

This job is for you if…

  • You have Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences or equivalent.
  • You have at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal waste Management environment.
  • You can effectively supervise and motivate staff in a leadership capacity.
  • You have strong organizational skills and can balance many competing and changing tasks.
  • You excel at problem-solving, financial management and program development . 
  • You have the ability to work in a political environment.
  • You are interested in working in a supportive team environment.
